Film Club Autumn 2014

Film Club is back in partnership with the Glad Cafe and the Autumn 2014 programme has been announced.

Unique Halloween Screenings

Two Halloween films screened in unique Southside venues: Pollok House and Pollokshaws Burgh Hall

Unique Venues

What makes the Southside Film Festival unique is the fact that there is no cinema in the Southside so our screening venues are cafes, swimming pools, clubs, halls, museums and other community venues.

Cinemap: mapping the Southside through film

After three successful years of running a film festival in May 2014 Southside Film Festival did something different this year.

Events, Workshops and Talks

As well as film screenings the Southside Film Festival has offered a variety of events including walking tours, animation workshops for children, a film quiz, discussions with filmmakers and actors.

Welcome

Welcome to the Southside Film Festival website.

We have an annual film festival in May in 'pop up' cinemas all over the Southside of Glasgow.  We also have monthly film screenings throughout the year in The Glad Cafe. Check out the Autumn 2014 film club season

We screen a wide range of films across all lengths and genres from all over the world but we particularly like to screen Scottish and local filmmakers work.  During the film festival we also have talks and workshops about films and filmmaking and other events such as the Southside Film Festival Film quiz, the Southside's first ever zombie walk and the Southside Cinema walk.

The Southside of Glasgow has the last remaining Wurlitzer Cinema Organ in Scotland at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall so we also screen silent cinema with live musical accompaniment. Our next screening with live Wurlitzer accompaniment is Hitchcock's The Lodger

We have screened all over the Southside and we work with lots of local venues to bring film out into the community. So far we have screened in a boat shed in the park, a scout hall, a school, a night club, a bar, a camera club, an allotment, a couple of local libraries (Langside & Pollokshaws), an art gallery in the local shopping centre (Art Village), Pollok House, The Burrell Collection, Scotland St MuseumHidden Gardens, TramwayGovanhill BathsKinning Park Complex, Castlemilk Community Centre, The Pearce Institute, The Glad Cafe... you get the idea, wherever we can put up a screen, we will.
